Travels in Europe

The Hungarian Parliament, as viewed from the Fisherman's Bastion Posted by Hello
As promised earlier in my blog entries, this is a picture from my travels in Europe during the summer of 2004. This particular picture may look familiar to anyone who has been to England, as the Hungarian Parliament building is modeled after the British Parliament, but is apparently a few feet longer overall. The Crown of St. Istvan (Steven) is on display in the Parliament building as well. For those who need a bit of historical background, he was the first Christian king of Hungary in the 11th century. There is also a piece of his mummified hand on display in the Bascilica.
This picture, from the Fisherman's Bastion is taken from the Buda side of the capital. This side is substantially higher as it is the Buda Hills where it draws its name from. The Parliament is located on the south side of Danube River, the Pest section of the capital. Budapest is joined by a series of bridges that span the Danube River.
Anyhow, that's all for now, more pictures will follow.
