Are you ready?

A few days before Christmas, what a flurry.
Presents, boxes and wrapping; such a hurry.
And when children are nestled all safe in their beds,
Parents look at the Visa bills and go out of their heads.
All for one day of excitement and joy,
For all kids, big and small, need a new toy!

Happy Holidays to all

Roast!

Yesterday and today have been more productive days than the rest of the week. Yesterday I went to the mall to drop off some résumés, and to do some window shopping. Also started my gift registry with Bay. After spending a lovely evening at home, I had to deal with a minor family conflict. Hunny came over with a new book for me to read.
Today was spent doing 8 loads of laundry and preparing my roast. The honey-ginger roast is coming out of the oven in a few minutes' time. We have also made broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. So dinner will be good tonight. Later on we will be visiting with my aunt, uncle and cousins.
Tomorrow will consist of going to church and then to my hunny's company Christmas dinner. I will be posting photos. Sunday we will be traveling up north again to take our kitty to its rightful home.

Discovery

As usual, I am an insomniac every night. So what is my cure for it? Watching television for a few hours (tonight it was: Pay It Forward), and then progressing to reading literature. Tonight's book of choice is The Godfather, mainly because I am assisting my younger brother with an ISU assignment. My goodness, has it been so long that I have nearly forgotten what that acronym stands for? Oh wait, my brain has unfrozen, it means Independent Study Unit. Funny how I got looped into this one. I don't remember anyone there to help me through my high school and university assignments.
In other news, I have just realized that this blog has now been in existence for two years. As I was marveling at that fact, I went back to read some of my first posts and began to contemplate what I have been doing since then.
1. Got myself engaged to my sweetheart (July 2005)
2. Won a year-long court case (June 2006)
3. Finally finished University and GRADUATED! (June 2006)
4. Went on vacation to Trinidad to plan wedding (August 2006)
5. Was hired as a bar manager (September 2006)
6. Signed modeling contract (November 2006)
7. Planning for wedding (July 2007)

Not too shabby, I must say! Although the last while has had its ups and downs, I realize that my life is progressing very quickly. I look back at where I was even 2 years ago, and I wonder what happened to that person. A lot has changed in my life, and most for the better. I am a more confident individual, more so than I ever was in the past. I am learning that being myself does not mean compromising myself. Also, if people don't like who I am, they can go stick it!

A life at home

Well, the last few days have been filled with reading, sleeping and eating in excess. Perhaps not the best of ventures, but my body is thanking me for slowing down. Yesterday's adventure included baking sugar cookies, and today's adventure required another form of culinary skills. My hunny works long hours, and since he is on his own, he rarely has time to cook for himself. So, I have volunteered for the task. I made him pepper steak with sweet red peppers and a large batch of turkey scallopini. Hopefully he will enjoy all the food. Tomorrow's adventures will include more cookie baking and the beginnings of the fruit (black) cake baking. Stay tuned for more yummy holiday fun!

The House Posted by Picasa

'tis the season to be unemployed

Yes, I am unemployed, as of last Thursday. Due to many complications surrounding the upper management of the place I worked at, things are not so good. They have decided not to get a renewal on the liquor licence, so that equates to no more job for me. Just the perfect time of year. So for the last few days I have been at home puttering around and trying to figure out what I am going to do. Thus far I have decided to take a break for now and take my time searching for a new job. On the up side of this, I have gotten back my modelling photos, which turned out great, and I have some time to start the wedding stuff. Looking at the list of things that I have to complete, I am slightly overwhelmed.
On Saturday, I finally returned to church, amongst many polite people trying to figure out why I had been absent for so long. Sunday my hunny and I took a trip up to the new house purchased by his parents. It is about an hour and a half out of town, but the drive was nice and the weather up there was good. Spent a few hours up there and then came back. We will be heading back up there on Christmas Day for a family luncheon. Pictures are following of the new homestead.
