A Few Days Later

It is now Wednesday again, and I have not posted in a few days. Here are updates on what has been going on. After working both Saturday night and the Sunday morning shift, I was exhausted. I spoke with the constable on Monday, and went in to see him at the station Monday night. At least that was the intention. As usual there was some mayhem in my city and he was called away to attend to it. So my brother and I went on our way to buy him a mouthguard for rugby and some more vodka for me (for my contest entry). Apparently the airconditioning compressor blew up, so there is no airconditioning in the car for a few days.
Woke up early and made turkey (Thai Turkey Thighs to be exact). I was scheduled to work on Tuesday, and I still do not know the fate of my job. The place I work at might be closing down, but I am hoping that won't happen. Hunny and I went over to police station again, this time actually talked to the constable. He had talked to the Crown Attorney, and we received our official witness subpoenas. Updates on this situation will follow. So hunny drove me to my aunt and uncle's place for me to stay at for the afternoon. My aunt was to drive me to work later on. Babysat my younger cousins for a bit, and then went into work around 6.15pm. The night was quite slow and largely uninteresting. A few customers stopped by and we had conversations about my workplace and the probability of me being out of a job. Will know what is happening by next Monday. Wednesday I woke up to fire alarm and lawnmowers. Spent the day not doing much, called my hunny before he went in to work. Made pizza with my mother, then played some computer games. That has been my day thus far. I work again tomorrow afternoon.

And the next few days

Well, as usual, I am doing a late night post after getting in from work. So, here we are again for updates. I was woken up yesterday morning by a call from the police constable who was dealing with my case. Within the next half-hour he was over here to discuss my court date. At this point I am not proceeding to trial, instead we are looking at a peace bond. So on Monday I, and my other witnesses have to go into the police station to make a report. The following Tuesday we have to go to court to talk to the Crown Attorney. Sounds like a lot of fun. In other news, the day was more or less productive. I booked our tickets to Trinidad for August 10-24. I spent 4 hours doing laundry and then went out to Michael's to buy a few things. When I got there, I found out that there was a sale, so I ended up buying our wedding invites as well ($20 off the original price). Also went out to the LCBO to buy some Smirnoff Twisted Raspberry. Entering this bartending contest to develop a new martini, top prize $1500, so off to the test kitchen! tee-hee! As I mentioned the night before, it was my uncle's birthday as well. We went over in the evening to his house to drop off a cake and a card for him. Then we ended up going out for a late night dinner with he and his family (place was called 168 South, just around Queen and Britannia). The food was delicious!
Earlier on Saturday I went to church, the first time in a month. Came home early to have dinner and get ready for work. Found out that the place I am working at now might be closing down. Anyhow it was a good night. Heading off to bed now because I am working at noon today as well.

Thursday

Lack of originality today in regards to the name of my post. So here I am blogging again, recounting the adventures of my life. I worked yesterday, and had to clean out some fungi-ridden things from the fridge at work. I couldn't even tell that there were pickles in the container for all the mold on them. The onion I found was growing another onion out of it! YUCK! I also finally got my graduation pictures in the mail. They turned out really well! After getting them, I quickly went out to the mall and made some extra copies for all the various relatives. Also went out to Chapters to get a copy of The Da Vinci code for my brother (school assignment). Got home just around dark. Spent the evening catching up with an old friend from high school, finding out all what has been going on in his life. Waited for my hunny to call me, but he finished work at 3am, and figured I was sleeping so he didn't call.
Woke up this morning around 11am, ate breakfast and watched some television. Hunny called me to see how I was doing, and if I had gone to book tickets for our trip. I didn't end up doing that today, because we are trying to schedule our trip to coincide with my aunt's visit. We plan to go down to Trinidad as she returns home. Called to see about my spa appointment, but I don't know what day to re-book it for because I don't know my work schedule yet. Sat around today reading The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail and enjoying it so far. Other than that it was a quiet day at home. Planning to go to travel agency tomorrow to enquire about prices. I am also planning the ambitious task of making pretty much everything for my wedding: wedding favours; hair accessories; floral arrangments...and the list goes on and on. Turns out that Michael's (the craft store) has a variety of different ideas available on their website, so I was perusing through that. Had dinner early today, so made myself some perogies just a little while ago. Going out tomorrow to buy some frames for the graduation pictures and some cards to send them in. That's about all that's new for now....oh wait, it's my uncle's birthday tomorrow. Happy birthday uncle N!

A Looooong weekend

Well, this long weekend has been one of lots of work. I spent the whole weekend working, and tomorrow will be my first day off. Even had the boss call me to check if a customer had paid up. I really don't understand why in a bar that only has a capacity of 30 people, there are two webcams. Go figure. As my hunny says, I shouldn't think about it, or I am liable to become more dumb. When I got home, I found that my brother needed some help on his speech for his English class. So guess what big sister is doing now...

Working Hard For My Money

Well, as the title to this post suggests, I have been working my butt off tonight, and my tips were not all that bad. Just got home about 10 minutes ago, after a late night snack at McDonald's. Have already scrubbed my face and teeth for the night and changed out of my work clothes. Work tonight was interesting as always, some of the regular crowd, and some new faces too. As usual I heard that there is gossip about me, but nothing is really new about that. Although the source I heard it from is not likely reliable. So I am waiting now for my hunny to get home and I hope he remembered to eat his fries. I am working the late shift again today, so Happy Victoria Day to everyone, be safe and have fun!

Late at night, the monsters come out

Well, here I am, blogging again at a late hour. Tonight I am waiting for my hunny to get home safely. It was a really long day for him: he worked; picked me up from work; came over to my place; and then we went out to a friend's birthday. That could have gone better if my friend's girlfriend had a sense of time. The original plan was for us to meet up downtown for 10:30pm. We finally all met up around 11:30pm. My hunny didn't have a great time tonight, on account of being so tired. I just hope that he makes it home safely.
Oh yes, happy birthday to my hunny's sister, she's 25 today.
And happy anniversary to my hunny. We are now at 11 months of being engaged!

A more personal reflection

Over the past little while I have been feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders. There seems to be so much to plan and to do over the course of the next year. I just got off my medication for my infected eye, and somehow that seems to be a factor in how I have been feeling as well. I am snappy, moody, and feeling somewhat depressed. Some nights I am even crying myself to sleep. The scary thing is, I don't even know what is causing my misery. At this point I don't know who to turn to for help, because everyone else is busy organizing their lives. So, I sit at home night after night, lacking motivation to do anything. I am trying my best to be productive, to plan my wedding, to save money, and to organize everything for my future life. However, I am swamped. I need to escape from all of this. The best day I had so far was Wednesday this week, when for the first time in nearly a year, I went out on my own and did some shopping. It helped me relax. My next relaxing day will be my trip to the spa in the next few weeks. I have been debating what to do with myself, and some people close to me have suggested that I get some counselling. Perhaps it is time...

A time to reflect

For the second time this week, we had news of a death. The first was on Tuesday (a distant relation of ours) and today, an elderly lady (90) who passed away in her sleep. I pray that their families are comforted in this time.
Today I had a day off, so I got to sit at home again. Since I was working a bit more recently, I feel restless when I am at home. Went shopping with my hunny tonight. He got new dress shoes (a graduation gift from my mother); he bought me a hot pink dress; I bought myself the pair of shoes I was looking at earlier in the week; and how could I forget the chocolate? Also rented
Hoodwinked which was pretty cheap in the animation department, but alright in the long run. Tomorrow night we are going out for my friend's birthday bash, so it should be fun.

Another day, some more dollars?

I was awakened this morning to find out that something had gone wrong with my father's car, and that he would not be able to drive me in to work. My hunny was working and my other option did not have a car available. So, I was told I should take the bus in to work. Only problem, it was already 10am when I heard this news, and a bus ride to work would be at least 1.5 hours. So I opted on taking a cab into work, which cost me a total of $30. I sat at work for the next three hours, ate some pizza and watched television. There was no one in the bar for 3 hours, so I did not have anything to do. Found out that the freezer has gone to a better place (the compressor died). This means no smelling like fried wings for me! Some people came in later, and my next few hours were alright.
Hunny came to pick me up from work, and it seems that he is adjusting fairly well to his new job. He brought me home and spent a few hours here, eating and watching television with me and my mother. Found out that my brother's injury (someone kicked his finger) was actually a chipped bone. My mother was exhausted, overworking herself as usual. Had a chat with hunny a little later on, and my medicated self is really acting like an ass these days. Started reading Holy Blood, Holy Grail, but can't seem to focus on it tonight. I guess I will try again tomorrow.

Shopping Trip

Went shopping today on my own at Yorkdale mall. Ended up buying something for everyone else but myself. Items purchased: top for my friend, top for my brother, Godiva chocolate-covered strawberries for mom and dad. As for me, I ended up with new razor blades and cushions for my high heels. So I guess I did get something...

Mother's Day and the following

Let's start out with Mother's Day. Since I worked late on Saturday night, I was not awake in the morning when the flower delivery for my mother arrived. By the time I woke up, she had already thanked my brother (who had forgotten all about the flowers). Then I got a call from my boss. The girl who has been 'sick' for nearly a week, was still feeling 'sick'. So I was called in to work, and at first it looked like I was going to miss the Mother's Day dinner of steak and cheesecake. However, I wrangled an extra hour of home time, which gave me plenty of time to spend with mother and to enjoy the dinner. My boss apparently felt so bad, that he apologized to my mother and offered her a drink on the house when she comes by my workplace next. I started work that evening at 7pm, and surprisingly enough, it was twice as busy as the Saturday night. Go figure!! Found out that I don't have a shift again until Thursday, so the next few days were all mine. Monday was spent doing some cleaning and organizing all the school books that had been scattered on my bedroom floor. These books have now found new homes on some shelves. Tuesday was spent visiting an elderly lady for a few hours, then rushing home to make two pizzas. Went onto my school website to see that grades have been released, and that I am finally graduating! (the afternoon of June 12). My hunny is graduating the same afternoon as well. I am happy to graduate finally, but fairly pissed off that I have to pay $50 to rent a robe, which I will be wearing for all of a few hours. Tomorrow I am going shopping for a birthday gift for one of my friends.

Drifting along

Again, I have not posted on my blog for several days. Over the last little while not much is different in my life. Last Saturday we went to a party at a professor's house and that was quite nice. In the last week, I have just about gotten over my cold and I am feeling almost better. I did a double shift yesterday (12 hours total) at work, and woke up late today. I am working again tonight, so I have to run errands this afternoon.

for those interested, the pattern to the right is the one that will be my wedding dress. Posted by Picasa

Sick

Since about Friday I have been suffering with a head cold. My mother says I sound like: "those yip-yip aliens from Sesame Street." Other than congestion, today was not as productive as I wanted it to be. I woke up around 1pm this afternoon, feeling rather miserable, puttered around and later went to the mall with my mother. We purchased some fabric (as my mother is starting a trial version of my wedding dress), and I found a perfect pair of jeans, on sale for $12.99. They had some rather tacky stitched on decals, which I removed, and considering the original price was $64.99, I do not think I did all that bad. Tomorrow is work in the afternoon.
In other news, I will not be working this Saturday night, so I will be able to attend a year-end party. Also, Philip Marchand finally wrote his article about the McLuhan/Frye debate in yesterday's Toronto Star (the IDEAS section).

Falling Behind

I never seem to realize how much time passes between my posting on this blog. In my life lately, been sleeping in late, trying to be productive during the daytime hours. Worked over this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and also managed to get a cold somewhere along those two days. Also went for another job interview, but have to see if it will work to have 2 jobs. Otherwise, dropping some more resumes later today, as a few places around me are currently hiring.
